July Knit Along - Color Affection

We're going to start a knit along.
You have heard about all the buz of the Color Affection Shawl by Veera Valimaki (available for purchase through Raverly raverly.com).  What a beautiful and non-stressful shawl.
So we thought we would have a Sweet Yarns knit along for the month of July.
Something wonderful to knit during the summer while enjoying the beautiful weather outside.

Happy Knitting :)

It's Knit In Public Week

Hello everyone - did you know that it's international Knit In Public Week.
I was thinking of grabbing my lawn chair and sitting out in the parking lot at the shop and knit outside this Saturday - weather permitting.  The shop is open from 10am - 3pm so I am thinking that every chance I get I will sit outside and knit during that time instead of knitting inside the shop :)  If you have some time and would like to join me that would be great :)

In Other News :)

I finished the lovely Liberty Wool Vest - so cute.  I really enjoyed knitting eith this yarn - what a treat.  Here's what it looks like.  We have some great colours instock.

The new issue of Simplified Living has just arrived - hot off the press.  We are featured in this issue with a cute pair fo easy felted slippers - hope you enjoy the project and this great magazine.  We do have copies available for purchase here at the store.

Here's a couple of the slippers knit up with Cabin Fever yarn - it felts beautifully.
I have taken the plunge and have started a "color affection" shawl - you can find the pattern on Ravelry.  This one is for my sister :)  Lucky girl.  I am making it with Madelinetosh sock - in colour ways Moss, Mansfields Garden Party and Oxblood.  I just love knitting with this yarn and this pattern is pretty addictive as well.  Come and check the Madeline Tosh Yarns - they are great and we will be bringing in more colours :)

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and finding some time to knit :)

Look Who I brought home :)

Well it has felt like summer for a couple of weeks and now all of a sudden back to the cold.  What's up with that?
I can't believe how fast time passes.  It just seems like yesterday I was telling you how excited I was to be going to the Knitter's Frolic in Toronto and a month has almost passed by.

Well, we had an awesome time and I highly recommend it.  So many vendors and interesting knitters and fibre enthusiasts.  I didn't get a chance to take any classes - but would definitely plan for it the next time.  Guess what I found at the Knitter's frolic - a beautiful sheep.  I couldn't leave her behind.
Here She is - Her name is "Bella" - what do you think :)
Here is my friend Janet carrying Bella to the car - the other shoppers stopped to say bye.

Here are some other pictures from the Knitter's Frolic - notice how everyone is smiling :)

Lyn from Cabin Fever - showing us some great hand dyed yarns made of Merino, Silk, Nylon and Silver :)  Had to get some - we now have it in the store with some beautiful shawlette patterns - come check it out.
Jane from Dye-Version Hand Dyed Fibres - oh the colours are so gorgeous.  We stock them as well :)

The ladies from Soak - what a great & fun bunch they were :)

Soooooo what kind of knitting have I been up to - well here is my updated on some of those projects I have been working on.....

One sock is done - YAHOOOOO - one more to go - started and working on the foot at the moment.  The pattern is Mock Cable Sock from the book "Socks from the Toe UP" by Wendy D Johnson.
Since I have finished the top down sweater (below) I thought I would start this cute little boys vest using Liberty Wool.  It's just a straight knit pattern and I'm really enjoying working with this yarn.  Check out the colours available at http://www.oldmillknitting.com/product.php?id=748.  Or come on in to see what we have in stock and how it's knitting up.

Here's my son Jordan with his newly completed socks made from Noro (Silk Garden Sock Yarn).  He can't wait to wear them snowboarding next year (oops I kind of missed this past snowboarding season)

There's more BUT that will be for next week.........................

Have a great weekend - enjoy the outdoors and some knitting time :)
